Site Purpose

Petkeep is a site created for the purpose of finding and returning lost pets to their rightful owners. The site is dedicated to serving residents of Australia specifically. Pets can be registered on the site, and pet owners will receive a tag with a QR code to identify their pets, which can be scanned by a smart device.

Specific registered pet information can be displayed on the site for any pet. Pet owners decide which information is public and which is private.

Implementation

Petkeep was developed with PHP, Javascript, jQuery, CSS, and other technologies. The site was not built using a PHP framework. Payments are made via paypal, and the site uses the Paypal subscription API integration.

A login portal has been incorporated into the site, which allows registered pet owners to log in and add/update information for their pets.

Features

Petkeep provides online videos which explain how the site and lost pet procedure works. It also provides a FAQ page, a page for reporting found pets, and a page for activating tags received in the mail.

The site provides an extensive backend, where registered pet owners can enter and edit information on themselves and their pets, as well as specifying which information is available for the public to view. Pet owners can set the status of their pet, to specify if their pet is lost, and also print lost posters to distribute and post in their neighborhood.
